Well here we are winding down the 2009 season, and I put together a series of Top Ten Highlights of the year. You might disagree with the order (that’s fine), and you might have another thought or two of a highlight I missed. I welcome your feedback.
#10 RON GARDENHIRE WINS HIS 700th GAME ….When the Twins logged their 78th win this season, Twins Skipper, Ron Gardenhire won his 700th victory as Twins Manager. Only Tom Kelly has won more (1140) and in just his 8th year at the helm of the Twins, "Gardy" is well on his way to at least 1000 wins and perhaps many more. Gardy is averaging close to 90 wins a season, and not yet 52, the Twins skipper should reach 1000 wins in the next couple of years. More important and perhaps more impressive is Gardy’s track record of Central Division Championships. Already he has won 4 and he is on the cusp of winning his 5th in 2009. Quite an accompolishment for Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire. Seven-hundred wins and just shy of eight years of skippering the Twins.
